Although the year is winding down, I’m still thinking about what you all need to be doing this summer. One of those activities is READING. Yes, you will need to continue to read this summer and practice those great reading strategies! There is a great site that will help you find books that might interest you. Then where can you go to get the book???? Hum , I wonder – the National City Public Library of course! You know where it is. You know to ride bus 962 to get there. Don’t forget about all the entertaining activities, movies, crafts, bands, magicians, and food they are going to have happening over the summer! summer reading program If for some reason, you can’t visit the library in person, you can still listen to books on line with their Tumble books section. They read the book to you while you look at the pages. Fun, fun, fun
The second thing is practicing your ……. you guess………..MULTIPLICATION FACTS! Think about your Successmaker number. When you were in Kindergarten, you didnt know what it was, then after entering into the computer to logon day-after-day, you learned it, even as Kindergarteners! How many of you knew it in August when you tried to log-on? It took a moment to get back in the habit of it, right? Well, that’s the same way with the multiplication facts. I asked Tim, “8×7″ and he had to think about for about 15 seconds. It’s been that long since he has used that information. YOU on the other hand, are going to use it constantly next year in 4th grade
You need to continue to practice these facts, so that you can be fresh on day 1 in fourth grade. Practice at Fact Dash today. I challenge you to go ask Mr. Hanks a multiplication fact, and COUNT how many seconds it takes him to answer! Let me know how long it took him to reply correctly. Give him a hard fact, 7×9, 6×8, or 5×12! Let me know how slow he is. Maybe we can set up a challenge!
There is more to come about what to do this summer, but this should be a good start.

Hi Mrs. Bo,
So far, none of your students have asked me a multiplication fact. Let them know I have been practicing and I am ready for the challenge.
Great blog and thank you so much for all that you do for our school.
